The ZX4 ST trim of is powered by a 151-horsepower 2.3-liter Duratec 23 DOHC I-4. This engine is derived from the Duratec 20 family, with larger displacement and performance-tuned exhaust. Key new additions on the Focus for 2009 include: a Street Appearance Package that gives a more aggressive, customized look, additional paint choices, CD/MP3 player, alloy wheels, six-disc audio systems etc. On the exterior, the 2009 Focus features three new paint colors and sporty 15-inch alloy wheels as a standalone option for S and SE models. Interiors on the Focus are clean and modern looking, highly functional and built of high-quality materials.

For safety, the 2009 Focus features occupant-sensing technology that will turn the front passenger seat air bag on or off after determining whether the seat is occupied by an adult or a child. The ZX4 ST of 2009 Focus adds ABS, chrome-tipped exhaust, body-color door handles, power-heated exterior mirrors, unique 16-inch aluminum machined alloy wheels etc.
